I wonder if it would be possible for the revolutionary Jesus to actually alter the way we celebrate Christmas? I mean, Christmas in this culture, REALLY has nothing to do with Christ. Nothing. Christmas trees, meals, family gatherings, and gifts, the primary means of celebrating the holiday, are completely divorced from the Christian Feast Day, The Nativity of the Lord.
So... here are some ideas:
Attend worship on Christmas Eve.
Remember it's not your birthday and serve someone else through the service opportunities at Christ Church on Christmas Eve.
Throw a "Birthday Party for Jesus" on Christmas, complete with birthday cake.
Before opening your presents on Christmas Eve or morning, depending on your family tradition, gather as a family and offer a prayer of thanks to our Father in heaven for the ultimate gift of salvation through the Incarnation of his Son, Jesus Christ.
These are just a few ideas on how to focus on the incredible goodness and grace that God has offered us through the incredible, world-changing miracle of the Incarnation.
I hope your Christmas is blessed and that Christ is exalted in all you do.
