We enjoyed a fun afternoon at Boyd Orchards, near Versailles, Ky. Roz, Chloe, Josiah, Lydia, and Josiah's friend from school, Tate, and me, loaded up in the family van and headed out through beautiful horse country to enjoy lunch, games, and picking apples.
We arrived around lunch time and ran into Chuck & Joanne
Dupree. Chuck & Joanne attended Christ Church until about two years ago when they moved to Nicholasville. They were missionaries with OMS in Japan for over forty years. They attended Annual Day at the United Methodist Children's Home in Versailles this morning, and stopped by Boyd's to pick up some apples.
After ordering lunch and getting our drinks we went to the dining area and part of their electricity went out. Everybody received what they ordered, except Josiah, who got a fancy salad... blue cheese, greens, sugar coated walnuts, craisons, etc. Needless to say, he didn't really get into the salad, but he was a good sport about it.
After eating, the kids enjoyed the petting zoo, the big slide, and climbing around on the large stacks of
straw. Then we tried our hand and cornhole. I think Chloe was the only one to actually throw the beanbag in the hole.
We headed back to the orchard with our wagon in tow and picked about three quarters of a bag full of Jonathan and Empire apples. Roz and Josiah promise to make an apple pie for us tomorrow.
Overall, we had a great time!
